Maggie & Yueyang — Sweet Fairytale in Koh Samui

No matter how many weddings we do and see, we still get emotional at those special moments. Especially when the event is as personal and remarkable as the celebration that we planned for Maggie and Yueyang’s wedding in Koh Samui.

The couple really wanted their wedding to be intimate and touching, and even coming from a culture where it is customary to have an extensive guest list with remote relatives and acquaintances, they chose to only have the closest people around and instead focus on creating the day full of amazing personal memories for themselves and everyone invited.

When choosing their wedding venue in Koh Samui, the couple asked us to focus on creating the maximum impact with the view and environment. As professional destination wedding planners in Koh Samui we knew right away that no place is better than the magnificent Conrad Hotel. Facing south-west from its prime cliff location, their pool terrace is the ideal place to witness the sunset, and the perfect backdrop for a dreamy wedding ceremony.

Our bride Maggie is charming, classy, and very romantic, so we wanted to make sure that the décor on the day reflects her beautiful personality, as well as the deep connection between herself and Yueyang. We opted for a very sweet color palette of ballet-slipper pink, cream white, and soft mauve, all on a lush green canvas, with accentuating color pops of fuchsia and magenta. A three-windowed wedding arch was set on a transparent glass stage over the pool, and a bridal walkway lined with high-standing flowers, reminiscent of a paradise garden. To add a symbolic and creative element to the flower arrangement, we opted for grape bunches here and there.

A very special place held the bride’s dear pet dog, Mengmeng, who was not only present at the ceremony among other guests but also greeted the guests from beautiful hand-painted paper hand-fans located at each of the ceremony seats.

Dinner decoration was meant to pay tribute to the ocean-front Thailand location, as well as to the beautiful tropical setting around. The canopy of fairy lights above the dining tables was a reference to the sky full of stars, with chandeliers adding more light and classy touch. The hand-dyed table linen was created by our talented team of planners and designers at The Wedding Bliss Thailand, and the soft washes of blue on a natural off-white fabric was an homage to the waves crashing in the background. Using that as a canvas, we then built up the tablespace using flower arrangements echoing the colour scheme and design of the ceremony, with the addition of bright fruits, like oranges and berries, something that the bride loves.

Edible elements found their way further into the design, with beautiful sweet tables of doughnut boards, fruit skewers, mini-cakes, and many others. For a couple who share a passion for trying new food, discovering restaurants, and cooking delicious meals at home, this was a wonderful reflection of their personal interests as well.

As the night continued, the guests were treated to a sumptuous Thai dinner prepared by the amazing Conrad team (Thai food is Maggie’s absolute favourite!). Followed by the emotional first dance amidst flowers and fireworks, playful personal games, and dancing, the night was exactly how the couple had imagined it — memorable, personal, and very warm.
