2017 has now arrived, and we hope you feel as ecstatic about this new year as we are! New projects, new inspiration, so many new ideas are waiting to be implemented! If you’re planning on getting married this year, be sure that your wedding is bound to be gorgeous with these trends. Today, we are sharing our favourites, as seen by a keen eye of a professional wedding planner.
Textures and layers
Velvet, sequins, and lace made its epic comeback into our wardrobes last fall, and it’s not going to lose ground any time soon. In fact, it made its way further, from the apparel and accessories world to the interior design and event styling. Think of gorgeous velvet drapes on wedding arch or bold-coloured tablecloths, lace overlay for table runners, silk drapery for chairs and much more!
Texture can also be applied to pretty much anything: from the obvious drapery opportunities to wedding cakes and stationery.
Layering is another trend resonating with textures, and playing with various combinations can result in an entirely unique and outstanding look!
Probably the most apparent trend of 2017, thanks to Pantone’s Color of the Year choice, it’s going to be greenery. We’ve seen a lot of it in the previous season, so 2017 is going to be a time to find a new approach to it. Turn your reception space into an orchard-house, use green textiles, or incorporate this fresh hue into your stationery!
Pastels are the perfect color decision for a wedding, but we’ve seen so much of blush, serenity and rose quartz last year, and it’s time to move on to something more bold and outstanding. We are now gladly greeting bright, juicy colors that make a real statement. Singular floral leads like proteas, a floral trend now is more inclined towards a balanced combination of similarly sized seasonal flowers, creating a perfect union together.
Long gone the time when more was synonymous with better. 2017 is going to prove that minimalism can make as strong of a statement (or even better!) as any lush overflowing flower set up. One way to achieve this can be a use of monochrome colour palette enriched by use of various textures. You can also try of incorporating Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetics, with its love of natural materials, simplicity, and asymmetry.
Contrasted with an extensive digitalizing of our life, handcrafted calligraphy has received a true recognition in the past couple of years and remains most widely-spread wedding trend to the day. 2017 incorporates some unconventional materials to add up to artisanal, exceptional look. As we mentioned earlier, textures and materials are in the centre of attention this year; so it’s important to be very selective, careful, and creative with this choices: think of print-screening on fabrics for your menus, napkins with name embroidery instead of place cards, invitation suite printed on a translucent paper or plastic… Rustic weddings can even use some leather for their menus and more!
We are more than sure that 2017 is going to be filled with wedding gorgeousness! We are ready to implement the most daring of your dreams for your destination wedding in Thailand, and looking forward to hearing more of your ideas this season!
