Weddings and fashion — fascinating subjects, very connected, yet very different, so what would happen if you combine both of them? For Jackie and Alex’s wedding in Phuket, fashion and style were the heart and soul of their celebration. Unconventional details, trendy elements, haute couture gowns – all of those and more set this wedding apart from many others.
It all comes from the fact that the bride, Jackie, is a senior buyer for Lane Crawford which is a famous Hong Kong department store. From Paris to New York, she draws her inspiration from fashion shows around the world, and when it came to her wedding, she knew what she needed to make it outstanding.
One of the most essential things that define wedding style and mood, in general, is the venue; that is why it is so important to take your time and select the one that feels right for you. For Jackie and Alex, there was no doubt it has to be a modern and innovative setting, and Point Yamu by COMO, with its clean style and exclusive location, perfectly matched these criteria. Large, green lawn overlooking Phang Nga Bay became an excellent canvas for their ceremony, and stylish La Sirena restaurant comfortably hosted almost 150 guests for a welcoming reception dinner.
Bride and groom liked the style of the venue itself, so we decided not to overload it with the intensive decor, instead focusing on accentuating what was already there. The ceremony arch maintained a natural green look of the lawn, yet adding an element of sophistication. The lush green arrangement with accents of white orchids looked truly luxurious, yet very organic.
For dinner, the main focus was on lighting, with only small floral accents in dark purple on tables.
The real focus of the day was on the bride, looking absolutely stunning in her haute couture Giambattista Valli gown. This modern playful look was complemented by daring Aquazzura shoes and eye-accentuating make up. Bridesmaids were beautiful in unconventional black dresses from Self-portrait, groom and groomsmen starred in Tom Ford, making their way dancing to Backstreet Boys’ Everybody down the aisle.
As the day continued, guests were invited to an outdoor gourmet cocktail reception with a jazzy musical accompaniment of the live band, where they could also enjoy the beautiful sunset. The dinner included a delicious 4-course Italian-inspired meal, with a mouth-watering dessert bar awaiting all guests at the end of it.
The end of the official part was marked by spectacular fireworks, with Jackie and Alex’s first dance opening the afterparty. That was the part everybody was looking forward to, and that’s when the real action started!
