Khao Oat and Big

It is not very often that we get to do traditional Thai weddings for Thai couples, but when we do, we try to make it very special. For Khun Khao Oat & Khun Big’s Chiang Mai wedding, we took a modern and relaxed approach, with the main goal of creating stylish, laid-back celebration for over 400 guests.

Our bride and groom are both very caring and attentive people, both having a strong hotel management background and in fact, the bride owns a very charming boutique hotel in Chiang Mai (Baan U Sabai Boutique House) while the groom runs a beautiful beachfront hotel in Cape Panwa area, The Mangrove Phuket. No wonder, The Mangrove Phuket was decided to become their wedding venue, which made the atmosphere very welcoming and cozy for all guests, under the concept of Countryside wedding by the beach.

It was very important for the couple to keep things simple, yet elegant and stylish, and incorporate Thai wedding traditions as much as we could. The day started with the traditional Khan Maak Procession, followed by engagement ceremony and tea ceremony in front of parents and closest family. It was then followed by beach front cocktail reception and buffet-style dinner reception.

With naturally beautiful hotel territory and nice bay view for sunset, we decided to only add a few romantic touches of decoration that wouldn’t outshine the already existent relaxed atmosphere.

The ceremony was set in a beautiful wooden sala, with wood-carved and engraved furniture, as well as some naturally looking wooden branches with tender white flowers braided into them. Orchids became a very important element of cocktail decoration and were delivered straight from the bride’s family orchid farm from the North of Thailand.

For the reception, we decided to create a beautiful canopy with light draping and romantic lights. It covered the whole area for 400 guests and served as the uniting frame for the evening. The rustic elegant look was further enhanced by earthy tones of table runners, and preliminary green flower arrangements.

The night continued with a spectacular party, fireworks and lots of cocktails. Seeing the smiles on bride’s and groom’s faces, happy guests dancing with great music in the background is our best reward, and this wedding was definitely one of these that left us very happy!
